Career and technical education (CTE) programs play an important role in equipping students with practical skills and knowledge aligned with the demands of the job market. Typically offered in high school, these programs help students gain professional experience, complete internships, and connect with mentors.
Career exploration in elementary and middle school can spark students’ interest in their future professions. LEGO® Education kits are an excellent way to introduce children to these opportunities. Here are some examples:
1. Ocean Cleanup
Students build robots to clean ocean pollution, exploring the Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources career pathway. Teachers encourage teamwork and innovative thinking to protect water sources — for example, by creating devices to collect debris or clean beaches.

2. Strawberry Harvesting Machine
While learning how technology has revolutionized farming and why certain crops, like strawberries, are too delicate for traditional machines, students design a machine that can gently pick only ripe fruit and navigate field obstacles.

3. Food Filming
Students design a tripod for food videography, exploring the Arts, Audio/Video Technology & Communications pathway. To allow the device to start and stop filming without touch and to hold a camera at various heights and angles, students sketch and prototype using cardboard, sticks, LEGO bricks, and other materials.

4. Race Car Desing
After a lively discussion on performance, speed, and aerodynamics of race cars, students work in pairs to design fast and safe vehicles. They take into account speed, safety, steering, tire friction, and aerodynamics — exploring the Transportation career cluster.d angles, students sketch and prototype using cardboard, sticks, LEGO bricks, and other materials.
